TEHACHAPI — In the Central Section Div. III semifinals, everything seemed to be going right for the Madera South baseball team.
Facing the No. 9 Tehachapi Warriors (20-9) with a trip to the Valley Championship game on the line, the No. 13 Stallions (11-19) were playing flawless defense while their offense configurationally manufactured runs on the way to a 4-1 lead.
Then came the dreaded sixth inning for the Stallions as the Warriors scored eight runs in Wednesday’s 9-5 win that ended Madera South’s magical playoff run as the lowest seeded Div. III team in the postseason.
“I don’t think we would’ve done anything different, our game-plan was executed the right way,” Stallion head coach John Fernandez said. “It was just timely hitting on their part where they the found lanes and aisles to go through.” ...
