The bass bite has been hit or miss at Eastman this week, although it seems to be trending toward a better bite. Bass were biting on jigs and plastic at around 20-30 feet on the Chowchilla side of the lake, but were significantly deeper at around 60 feet on the Codorniz side.

Trout are really biting, and anglers are taking home full stringers after fishing from the shore or a boat with nightcrawlers and Rooster Tails. The next scheduled trout plant is next week.

In other Eastman Lake news, the Lakeview Trail is closed to all use between the Codorniz Recreation Area and Raymond Bridge, and the area of the lake extending upstream along the Chowchilla remains closed beyond the buoy line...
