Eagles drive past Hawks in playoffs

FRESNO — The Liberty Hawks looked to give the Fresno Christian Eagles a battle in the first round of the Div. IV playoffs and looked to be in good shape after heading into halftime tied.

Unfortunately, the fifth-seeded Eagles, behind 30 points from Brian Scott, outscored 21-15 in the fourth quarter to pull away and record a 53-63 victory Tuesday at Fresno Christian.

The Eagles went on a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Hawks, who had trouble making shots early in the half.

“The second half, we couldn’t get into a rhythm,” Liberty head coach Ken Vossler said. “We had to work hard for everything. They did a good job on us defensively. It just didn’t come easy. We played hard and took good shots. Those are what makes runs.” ...
