Four-year starter Darbi Duke has continued a Liberty Hawks softball legacy by inking her name on the dotted line to attend Montevallo University in Alabama to play softball.

A year after two of her teammates — Randi Wallace and Hannah Shevenell — signed National Letters of Intent, Duke signed her letter on Friday to play for the school, located about 35 miles south of Birmingham.

“It’s really exciting,” Duke said. “I’m excited to know I can go there and play softball, something that I love, and get school out of it.”

Duke is a two-time All-North Sequoia League first team member and a member of the All-Madera Tribune team in both softball and volleyball. Heading into her senior season, Duke was sixth on the school’s all-time home run list and has a career batting average of .324…
