Former Madera Coyote girls volleyball player Samantha Dougherty of The Master’s College-Santa Clarita was named the Golden State Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week on Monday.

She put down 39 kills and 22 digs with six aces in three match wins the previous week. She has led The Master’s College to a No. 8 ranking in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ volleyball poll and an 18-3 record.

In a three-set victory over Arizona Christian-Phoenix, Dougherty had 5 kills and 6 digs on Sept. 29. She led the team with 11 kills and was second with 13 digs in a 3-1 loss to No. 2 Concordia-Irvine on Thursday.
