Three years after she left Madera South as the winningest girls volleyball coach in the program’s short history, Andrea Devine is returning to the school as its second athletic director.

Current Madera South athletic director Marty Bitter, who began when the school opened 10 years ago, will leave his current post to become the Madera Unified School District’s director of athletics.

Devine, who won a Valley Championship with the Stallions girls volleyball team, will step into Bitter’s vacated position on June 1.

“It’s very exciting,” Devine said. “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. I told Marty on several occasions that I was going to have his job.” ...
