By the time the Liberty Hawks boys soccer team played its final game of Bakersfield’s Garces Holiday Soccer Festival, it was left with just 12 available players.

“We took 20 kids to the tournament,” head coach Darrell Ratzlaff said. “We’ve been pretty banged up. If we had a healthy team, we would be better because they are key players. We are digging deep on our roster and we left it all on the field.”

The Hawks lost to Mission Oak-Tulare, 2-0, in the first game. In the second game, Liberty suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Mammoth Lake.
