First-year head coach Tim DeRuyter's fast, physical, fanatical philosophy has taken root in the Fresno State Bulldogs and at the mid-point of the season the results have become crystal clear.
When DeRuyter came to Fresno State he had a reputation for improving defenses.
Through five games this year the Bulldogs (3-2) have had a complete 180-degree turnaround, leading the Football Bowl Subdivision with 16 forced turnovers. Not only that, the 'Dogs are ranked No. 44 in total defense in the FBS.
The entire last season the 'Dogs only forced eight turnovers and never cracked the top 100 in total defense...
