Madera South Stallions

A track meet at a football game?: Though there was a scheduled football game between the Madera South Stallions and Selma Bears, it might as well have been a track meet as both teams combined to run the ball 94 times for 726 yards.

Ready Freddy: While the Stallions' defense had trouble stopping the Bears, senior cornerback Freddy Montero did his best to limit Selma's scoring. He intercepted a John Moreno pass in the second quarter that led to a Stallions touchdown and stripped the ball from a Selma runner after a 13-yard gain that was recovered by safety Isaac Cazarez...

Liberty Hawks

Specialty teams: Tommy Combs has 12 tackles in the first half of the season. Of his 12 tackles, seven have come on special teams to lead the team, including three tackles against Caruthers last week. Logan Pierce and Johnny Aviles each have six special teams tackles.

'D' stands for dominating: The Liberty defense was at its best Friday night. They allowed Caruthers to gain 64 yards (54 offensive yards because 10 came on a penalty) on its first series and complete a 59-yard pass. After gaining 113 yards in the early going, the Blue Raiders were held to just eight yards the rest of the way...
