Flying monkeys…now flying Coyotes: Madera sophomore quarterback Nathaniel Nelson threw for 151 yards in Friday’s loss to the Dinuba Emperors. He also threw for four touchdowns, two to Alec Gamboa and one each to Anthony Martinez and Michael Say. Madera threw for three touchdowns all last season.

Slippery when wet: The Coyotes turned the ball over four times against Dinuba. Two fumbles halted drives in Dinuba territory and two more resulted in Dinuba touchdowns. However, the Coyotes were able to force three fumbles from the Emperors. Michael Angell, Rene Arballo and Michael Say recovered fumbles.

Double trouble: Two Dinuba receivers gained more than 140 yards. Aaron Taylor caught six passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Lorenzo Fraga caught nine passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.

Air support: Once Dinuba junior quarterback Marcus McMaryion got settled in the pocket, he was deadly. The Coyotes pressured McMaryion early with sacks from Ryan Carpenter and Martinez, but McMaryion settled down to throw for 357 yards and five touchdowns...
