Despite a valiant effort by the Madera South Stallions, the Madera Coyote girls tennis team was too much in an 8-1 victory to end the first round of County/Metro Athletic Conference action.
Coyote No. 1 player Sam Tiscareno led the way with a victory over Madera South ace Carli Magnusson. Earlier in the season, Tiscareno lost to Magnusson in the Madera South Grapevine Classic.
Tiscareno avenged the loss Thursday with a straight-set 6-1, 6-0 victory over Magnusson, who is dealing with a slight ankle injury.
“It’s a pretty big win for me,” Tiscareno said. “Everybody expects you to win and that helped me concentrate on the match.” ...
