Coyotes top Stallions, stay perfect

With the County/Metro Athletic Conference championship meet just around the corner, there was no better way for the Madera and Madera South wrestling teams to prepare for it than in the final regular season dual meet against each other.

In an emotionally charged Wednesday night match-up between the cross-town rivals, it was the Coyotes that stayed a perfect 4-0 in dual meets in the CMAC with a 43-26 win over the Stallions in Joe Flores Gym on Senior Night.

While the Coyotes led 31-6 after eight matches, it was clear that each Madera wrestler had to earn their wins.

“First off, Madera South always wrestles us tough,” Coyote head coach Joe Romine said. “They are Madera kids wrestling other Madera kids. They came ready to wrestle and I thought there were some good match-ups. Sometimes the score doesn’t show how close the overall matches were.”...
