In the final County/Metro Athletic Conference game of the regular season between evenly matched Madera and Madera South girls soccer teams, 80 regulation minutes weren’t enough to decide a victor on the Coyotes’ Senior Night.

It would take an overtime goal by Madera junior defender Mackenzie Malm to break the tie in the Coyotes’ 1-0 win over cross-town rival Madera South (8-12, 4-6 CMAC) on a rainy Thursday night in Memorial Stadium.

Madera (12-8-6) improved to 4-4-2 in CMAC while completing the season-sweep of the Stallions, which included a 2-1 win on Jan. 22.

“I wanted to win this game so bad,” Madera senior Alexis Hernandez said. “I wanted it with all my heart and we were determined to get it done. This last game was definitely the most important to me because I didn’t get to play against South the last time we faced them.”...
