Coyotes top Stallions in Gold Division championship

FRESNO ― No matter what the records are, fans can always expect a battle when the Madera and Madera South boys soccer teams face each other.

That was certainly the case when the Coyotes and Stallions took the field Saturday with even more on the line besides bragging rights ― a chance to return home with some hardware.

It was Madera that was able to convert a last-minute penalty kick to top Madera South, 1-0, in the Gold Division Championship game of the Harold S. Young Tournament at Hoover High.

It was also the first time in program’s history that the teams met as defending conference champions with the Coyotes winning the County/Metro Athletic Conference last season while the Stallions took the North Yosemite League title...
