After suffering a 1-0 loss in its previous game, the Madera girls soccer team was looking to take care of business against an Edison-Fresno squad that beat Madera 2-1 in the first round of County/Metro Athletic Conference play.
In the rematch with the Tigers, the Coyotes (11-7-6, 3-3-2 CMAC) took a 1-0 lead into the half but couldn’t hold off Edison (6-10-6, 2-4-2) in a 1-1 tie Thursday night in Memorial Stadium.
The Coyotes were looking to avenge an earlier conference loss to the Tigers where Madera dropped a 2-1 match on Jan. 15 in Fresno.
“We saw a different Edison team today,” Madera head coach Garrett Perez said. “They had new players and they were a good team, so tying them wasn’t entirely a bad thing for us. We were, however, still disappointed that we didn’t get the win.”...
