Coyotes tie Knights in clash

In a battle between two County/Metro Athletic Conference heavyweights, the Madera boys soccer team and Bullard-Fresno Knights were vying for the top spot of the league standings.

In the rivalry game that featured the past three CMAC champions, a winner wasn’t determined as the Coyotes (11-3-1 overall, 2-1-1 CMAC) and Knights (8-7-3, 3-0-1) forged a 1-1 overtime tie Thursday night in Memorial Stadium.

While the Coyotes were coming off a 1-0 win at Edison-Fresno on Tuesday, Bullard came into the match with a surprising 3-0 CMAC record and were gunning for a quality road win against Div. I Madera.

“We thought that a tie was a little bit disappointing because we really wanted to come into this game and get a win,” said Bullard head coach Igal Francis. “But as it goes we came in here and didn’t get beat, so we’ll take that.” ...
