On a team that features nine seniors and a 6-foot-7 sophomore center with varsity experience, there’s reason for Madera boys basketball head coach Mike Hawkins to be optimistic about the season.
The Coyotes (3-1) showed their potential in the Madera South Classic and closed the four-day tournament with two dominant victories including a 70-47 win over Chowchilla on Saturday and a 60-30 romp of Orosi.
“I’ve been really excited for this group,” Hawkins said. “I wanted them to get off to a quick start and I think that’s what we got.”
