Eventually, the Madera Coyote softball team will get tired of hearing it is young and lacks maturity, but not just yet. The Buchanan-Clovis Bears took advantage of the Coyotes in a doubleheader sweep Wednesday at Zimmerman Field.

The Bears scored a run on a sacrifice fly and another on a two-out single to hold off the Coyotes in a 2-1 victory in the first game of the doubleheader.

“We were so close in the first game,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “That’s how we are.”

Buchanan then racked up 16 hits for a 16-3 victory in the second game. The Coyotes didn’t help their case. They committed six errors and five pitchers allowed 12 earned runs with three walks and two hit batters...
