After the Madera boys soccer team avoided an upset loss in its previous game, the Coyotes ran into trouble against a resurgent Edison-Fresno team.

The defending County/Metro Athletic Conference champion Coyotes (12-4-3, 2-1 CMAC) suffered a 2-1 heartbreaking loss Wednesday night to the Tigers (4-9-1, 1-2) at Memorial Stadium.

Madera came into the match after escaping with a 3-2 overtime victory at lowly Sanger last Friday but found itself surprisingly down 2-1 late in the game against Edison.

With the Coyotes desperately trying to get a goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Madera seemed to pull off a miracle finish after senior Sergio Perez crossed the ball that deflected off an Edison defender into the net for the apparent tying goal...
