Coyotes step up against Tigers

After controlling the match with the EdisonFresno Tigers early, the Madera Coyote boys volleyball team had to comefrom-behind to win the third set in a 3-0 County/Metro Athletic Conference victory.

The Coyotes won the first set 25-14 and then won the second set 25-19. Edison had three set points before the Coyotes scored five straight points for a 26-24 third set win Thursday night in Joe Flores Gym.

Madera didn’t trail in the first two sets, but found themselves down by eight points midway through the third set. Bryan Edmonston served up seven straight jump serves, including two aces, to tie the score at 14-14 and the Coyotes were back in the game.

“Our supporting cast came up tonight,” head coach Rhonda Jefferson said. “Bryan got us back into the match with his jump serves. Mike Angell and T.J. Singh also stepped up tonight.” ...
