Coyotes, Stallions battle in tie

In a County/Metro Athletic Conference match that featured two of the section’s premier defenses, the Madera and Madera South boys soccer teams met for the first time as league foes on top of being familiar crosstown rivals.

As it turns out, 100 minutes wasn’t enough to decide a winner Wednesday night as both the Coyotes (13-4-4, 3-1-1 CMAC) and Stallions (11-8-4, 1-2-2) ended the evenly played grudge match in a 2-2 overtime tie at Memorial Stadium.

It was also a rematch of the Gold Championship Game of the Harold S. Young Tournament in a December contest where the Coyotes narrowly beat out the Stallions, 1-0.

The defending CMAC champion Coyotes entered the latest match sitting on top of the league standings after shutting out Bullard-Fresno, 1-0, last Friday while the Stallions were coming off a 0-0 tie with the Sanger Apaches...
