For several drives against the Clovis Cougar football team in an exhibition last week, Madera High looked fresh, strong and like a complete team.
The division one Cougars did outscore the division two Coyotes eventually Friday by at least two touchdowns, but that wasn’t the focus as first-year head coach Bonner Cunnings addressed his excited squad after the game.
“Gentlemen,” Cunnings said as the Coyotes cheered raucously, “You believe now. There’s not a single team out there that’s going to smack us in the mouth. The only way they’ll beat us is if we give them permission, and we will not give them permission.”
