For the second game in a row, the Madera boys soccer team had 1-0 lead at halftime before it uncharacteristically gave up second-half goals to drop back-to-back home matches.

After losing 2-1 to a strong Roosevelt-Fresno Rough Riders squad last week, the Coyotes (6-3-2) fell again to another North Yosemite League team with Sunnyside-Fresno (5-1-1) handing Madera a 4-2 loss on an ice-cold Wednesday night in Memorial Stadium.

Madera will try to break its two-game losing skid today at the Clovis Cougars Classic Tournament against pool teams Clovis, Clovis East (JV) and McLane-Fresno.

Against a Sunnyside team that was last season’s Div. II section runner-up, the Coyotes allowed four goals in the second half including two from Wildcat senior Estuardo Najarro...
