“It’s not whether you get knocked down. It’s whether you get up.” For the last few weeks, those words — spoken by legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi — could not have been more true to a Madera-area football team than the Madera Coyotes.
After a tough loss on the road to the Tulare Western Mustangs, a lower-division team, for the third week in a row the Coyotes (2-3) took their game to an opponent’s home turf against the Skyline Titans of Oakland (0-5) last Friday.
And the Coyotes, facing two straight losses and the loss of several players due to injury or off-the-field issues, definitely got back up.
Their offense racked up more than 300 total yards and four touchdowns while their defense limited Titans quarterbacks to less than 15 yards through the air, and the Coyotes steamrolled their way to a 27-0 shutout victory...
