Playing in the friendly confines of Mel Parker Field, the Madera baseball team wanted to avenge a 6-1 road loss it had suffered three days earlier at Edison-Fresno.
Led by a Coyote defense that played mistake-free ball and the hitting of sophomore first baseman Fernando Galindo, Madera (17-7) rebounded in a big way Friday evening with a 9-0 home win over the defending D-II section champion Tigers (10-16).
“It’s always good to bounce back and win games but I think right now we’re more just preparing ourselves for playoffs,” Coyote head coach Andy Underwood said. “We’re just trying to get into position for that.”
With the victory, Madera improved to 7-4 in the County/Metro Athletic Conference and will host league-leading defending D-I champ Bullard-Fresno (15-11, 10-1 CMAC) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m...
