Coyotes settle for tie

The Madera Coyote boys soccer team had a chance to upset the Sunnyside-Fresno Wildcats in a County/Metro Athletic Conference matchup, but had to settle for the tie.

The ninth-ranked Coyotes (10-4-6, 2-1-1) took a 3-2 lead with 16 minutes left in their match with the No. 5 ranked Wildcats. Sunnyside tied the score off a corner kick with eight minutes left in the match and then scored three minutes into overtime to take the lead.

Jose Pineda nailed a penalty kick in the 16th minute of overtime to preserve Madera’s sixth tie of the season and keep the teams tied atop the CMAC standings.

The match was full of fouls from both teams with four yellow cards issued. The Sunnyside coach was given a red card and ejected from the match with two minutes left in overtime...
