When Sergio Perez scored the first goal of the game for the Madera Coyote boys soccer team in the second minute, the rout was on.
Eight different players scored, including starting goalkeeper Alex Carbajal, during Madera’s 11-1 rout over the Hoover-Fresno Patriots on Tuesday in Memorial Stadium.
The victory was the biggest in head coach Chris Baca’s eight-year Coyote coaching career.
“We return almost everybody this year, but we haven’t scored,” Baca said. “We’ve only allowed three goals in nine matches. That’s the strength of the team, but we can’t get the ball into the net.” ...
