Coyotes save best for last, knock off Grizzlies

After dropping two of its first three games of the Fresno Easter Classic, the Madera Coyote baseball team faced a daunting task Wednesday having to face the section’s No. 8 ranked Central-Fresno Grizzlies on their home field.

Using a two-out rally in the top of the seventh, the Coyotes (9-8) stunned the Grizzlies (14-5) 5-0 to finish the tournament 2-2 and pull their record to over .500.

Isaac Granado (4-2) tossed a complete game four-hitter with no walks and three strikeouts to earn the win. He kept a tremendous hitting Grizzlies team off-balance until the Coyotes were finally able to muster some offense.

And the top of the seventh looked grim as the Coyotes had two out and no runners on base. But speedy Michael Say reached on an error by the shortstop and stole second while Zak Taylor and Joseph Mendrin walked to load the bases...
