Right from the opening tip, there was no doubt who the better team was. The Madera Coyotes girls basketball team scored 22 points in the first two quarters and went on a 29-0 run and cruised to a 67-11 victory Thursday over the Firebaugh Eagles at the Madera Shootout in Joe Flores Gym.
“That was the way Coyote basketball is supposed to be played,” head coach Jason Smith said after his team’s biggest victory since he has been a head coach. “The girls showed their potential tonight.”
After Firebaugh scored its first points of the game for a 7-2 Coyote lead, Madera scored the next 29 points in a row and held a 44-3 halftime lead. Firebaugh got into double-digits, scoring with just over a minute left in the game.
