Led by Michael Angell’s 33 kills, the Madera Coyote boys volleyball team swept the Edison-Fresno Tigers in a County/Metro Athletic Conference match in Joe Flores Gym.

After a lackluster performance against the Sanger Apaches five days before, the Coyotes rebounded for a three-set victory Tuesday against Edison.

“They responded very well,” head coach Rhonda Jefferson said. “Our passing was phenomenal tonight. We were at 2.7 passing rating and 3.0 is the best. Our blocking was outstanding tonight. Michael was able to do anything he wanted against their front line.”

Bryan Edmonston recorded 10 kills to go with 14 digs. Setter Joey Guzman had 51 assists with seven aces and libero Jose Pineda recorded 23 digs...
