In its first year playing in the County/Metro Athletic Conference last season, the Madera Coyote softball team went 10-0 and ran away with the conference title. With a young team this season, the Coyotes have taken their lumps. But now head coach Judy Shaubach and the Coyotes are turning the heads of future Division I playoff opponents.
Madera ran through the first half of the CMAC schedule unscathed, running its two-year record to 15-0. The Coyotes outscored their CMAC opponents 36-1, including a 9-1 victory Tuesday over Edison-Fresno.
“It was a good game all the way around,” said Shaubach, who won her 502nd game. “We’ve been working on hitting to the opposite field and when we do that, we’re successful. It was nice to be able to enjoy the day.”
