After 12 days of inactivity, the Madera Coyote softball team certainly dusted off the cobwebs that had been building up against Sanger and San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno to open the County/Metro Athletic Conference.
The Coyotes came out strong in both games, behind solid pitching performances from Carissa McMillon, who tossed a two-hit shutout in an 8-0 victory over Sanger on Monday, and Jackie Anzaldo, who threw a three-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Memorial on Tuesday.
“We had two really good solid performances,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “Against Sanger, we were good in all phases of the game and we were hitting on all cylinders. We let up a bit against Memorial, but that’s just us maturing. That’s a good thing in the first two games.”
