Despite trailing by seven points with six minutes left in the game, the Madera Coyotes still had a chance to come away with a victory against the Sanger Apaches.

However, once the Coyotes got within one of Sanger with four-and-a-half minutes left in the game, the Coyotes committed five turnovers and missed four of their next six shots in a 54-50 loss Friday in Joe Flores Gym.

Paul Brown made two free throws to cut the Sanger lead to 45-46 with 4:30 left in the game. Sanger scored the next four points and opened a 50-45 lead with about three minutes left in the game.

Sonny West drained a 3-pointer to cut the lead back to two. After a layup by Sanger’s Alex Wu, Isaiah Johnson made a layup off a pass from Bryan Edmonston for a 52-50 Sanger lead...
