CLOVIS — It wasn’t the best way to start off the Andy Underwood era of the Madera baseball program.
In Underwood’s debut as the Coyotes’ manager, Madera suffered a 2-1 road loss Wednesday evening to the Clovis North Broncos in the Clovis Coca-Cola Classic.
With the game tied at 1-1 and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, a wild pitch by Madera reliever Isaac Granado allowed Clovis North’s Daniel Gardner to score the game-winning run.
“Being a head coach in the first year, you always want to get the first win out of the way,” Underwood said. “It’s a tough one but we’re going to move on.” ...
