In a battle for the second-best team in the County/Metro Athletic Conference, the Madera Coyote boys volleyball team couldn’t match firepower with the Sanger Apaches at Joe Flores Gym.

Madera’s top three attackers combined for 20 kills and leading attacker Daniel Barsotti had just two kills. Meanwhile Sanger’s top three hitters combined for 28 kills for a 3-0 victory Thursday.

“That was for second place,” head coach Rhonda Jefferson said. “We were right there, but we just couldn’t push through. Our offense was a little down.”

Michael Angell led the Coyotes with nine kills. T.J. Singh had seven kills to go with seven blocks and Bryan Edmonston also put down five kills...
