In the first ever County/Metro Athletic Conference match between the Madera and Madera South girls soccer teams, the cross-town rivalry intensified with even more than bragging rights at stake.
Position in league standings was also on the line as the Coyotes (10-6-4) improved to 3-2 in the CMAC with a 2-1 win Wednesday night over the Stallions (5-10, 1-4) in Memorial Stadium.
Madera’s Kimberly Gaona and Karina Gil each scored in the win while Madera South’s Angel Rodriguez recorded the Stallions’ lone goal.
The Coyotes host San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno tonight at 5 p.m. while the Stallions travel Fresno to face the top-rated Bullard-Fresno Knights at 5 p.m...
