Coyotes head to Tulare for showdown with Mustangs

It’s time for Madera High School’s second consecutive road trip of the season tonight, as the Coyotes head south for a match with the Tulare Western Mustangs.

The Coyotes (1-2) come into the contest after a 36-14 road loss to the Paso Robles Bearcats last week, while Tulare Western (2-2) is fresh off a 35-27 victory over Hanford West.

Madera head coach Bonner Cunnings said the primary concern for his team was to contain the running game of the Mustangs, something that the Coyotes have had trouble with all season.

“Obviously we haven’t done a very good job of stopping the run all year,” Cunning said. “And they’ve got some really good running backs, some of the best we’ve seen yet. So we’re making some personnel adjustments to beef up our defensive interior with some more run stoppers.” ...
