Coyotes go unbeaten at Peggy Renberg

FRESNO — After getting a big win in its first match of the season, the Madera Coyote girls soccer team hadn’t scored in the three matches since then. It didn’t take long for the Coyotes to get on the scoreboard in a 3-0 victory over McLane-Fresno at the Peggy Renberg Tournament on Friday at Hoover-Fresno High School.

Anissia Gonzalez scored two goals in the victory and Kaycie Simpson scored a late goal in the second match against Stockdale-Bakersfield to forge a 1-1 tie on the first day of the Peggy Renberg Tournament.

“Stockdale was a good team and they were the better team today,” first-year head coach Garrett Perez said. “We were able to hang in there and get the tie. We want to keep improving so we can be the better team in the future.

“Chemistry is a big issue. We need get the girls to play together and get used to our style of play. When it clicks, it will be magic.” ...
