Coyotes get win against Merced in the seventh

The Madera Coyotes scored two unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 5-3 victory Monday in the Easter Softball Classic at Buchanan-Clovis High.

Despite the absence of two junior starters the Coyotes, behind junior pitcher Carissa McMillon, came away with the win. McMillon tossed a four-hit complete game with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Destenie McMillon had two of the Coyotes’ seven hits with an RBI. Brianna Ramirez hit a double and also drove in a run.

The Coyotes took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. With one out, Rita Solis hit an infield single. Jenna Medina singled up the middle to put runners at first and second. After Solis and Medina executed a double steal, McMillon laid down a squeeze bunt...
