Coyotes get past Stallions

After trailing late in the second quarter, the Madera Coyotes surged to reclaim the lead and extended it to as many as 17 points in a 49-37 victory over cross-town rivals Madera South Stallions.

The Stallions used a 13-0 run in the second quarter to take a 21-16 lead with 1:37 left in the half. However, in the final minute, Antranetta Stickman scored six of her team-high 14 points to lead the Coyotes to an 8-0 run and a 24-21 lead at the half.

Madera would outscore Madera South 16-4 in the third quarter and cruise to the County/Metro Athletic Conference victory Tuesday in Joe Flores Gym.

“We knew they were going to play physical and knew they were going to play hard,” Madera head coach Jason Smith said. “We knew they were going to come with their A-game so we need to do the same.” ...
