It was an emotional night for the Madera Coyote football team on Friday as the season came to a close on the road in a quarterfinal Div. III loss to the Dinuba Emperors, 55-28.
The seventh-seeded Coyotes closed out their season 5-7 with a 1-4 County/Metro Athletic Conference record while the second-seeded Emperors, at 11-1 and 4-0 in the Central Sequoia league, go on to face Porterville in the semifinals on Friday.
After the game, Coyote head coach Scott McKinney thanked his coaches and team for their effort, adding extra words of encouragement for senior players.
“I thanked them and commended them on the job they did leading our program,” McKinney said. “I think they made our program better and continued to progress in a positive direction that last year’s group started and left us with.” ...
