CLOVIS — For the second straight game in the Clovis Coca-Cola Classic, the Madera baseball team had to face a team from the TriRiver Athletic Conference.
A day after suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 last-inning loss at Clovis North, the Coyotes had to turn around Thursday and face the two-time defending Central Section Division I champion Buchanan-Clovis.
Despite losing 13 seniors from last season’s Buchanan team that finished ranked No. 1 nationally in ESPN Rise’s PowerAde Fab 50, the Bears racked up 11 hits in an 11-2 win over the Coyotes at Buchanan High.
“We didn’t come ready to play, there’s nothing else to it” Madera manager Andy Underwood said. “Nothing positive came out of this game for us.” ...
