The Madera Coyotes football team knows there will be television cameras broadcasting tonight’s game to a predicted audience of more than 100,000 people.

The Coyotes know they’re on the road against Edison-Fresno, a team ranked first in the Valley, 15th in the state, and two divisions higher than themselves.

But does that matter to the plucky 2-5 squad under the direction of Bonner Cunnings in his first year as head coach?

Not if you ask him. “It’s a perfect time for an upset,” Cunnings answered. “Everyone’s overlooking us this week. Everyone. When everyone overlooks you there’s no pressure, so we’re going to show up and celebrate everything we’ve worked for so far.” ...
