Coyotes to face Pirates in non-league contest

In a 60-0 win last week against Fresno High, the Madera High Coyotes seemed unstoppable. From four passing touchdowns to eight turnovers in the plus column, everything seemed to go their way.

But even with such a one-sided victory, head coach Scott McKinney isn’t getting cocky before Friday’s game against the Reedley High Pirates. “Athletically they’re pretty comparable to who we are,” McKinney said. “Size wise, speed wise, they’re mostly even with us.”

Reedley comes off a 38-13 loss against Dinuba High School and runs a 3-4 defense with three defensive lineman and four linebackers. McKinney said that will be a much different look from the four defensive lineman, four linebacker defense the Coyotes faced against Fresno.

“If you run a 3-4 defense in high school you better have some big bodies up front,” McKinney said...
