After winning what is considered to be one of the toughest leagues in the Central Section while also going relatively far in the playoffs, the expectations for the Madera boys soccer team heading into this season were at a very high level.
Those lofty goals were warranted as the defending County/Metro Athletic Conference champ Coyotes (5-1-1) are off to a great start after advancing to the Valley Division I semifinals last season where they suffered a narrow 3-1 home loss to Liberty-Bakersfield.
Madera finished 16-6-6 last season including a 7-2-1 CMAC record as they dethroned defending champ Bullard-Fresno.
