After banging out 25 hits and 19 runs in its previous two games, the Madera Coyote baseball team mustered only three hits Friday night in a 6-1 loss to the CMAC-leading and section’s top-ranked Bullard-Fresno Knights.

With the win, Bullard has now run off eight wins in a row, the last loss being an 11-6 win by Madera.

The Knights sent ace Blake Quinn to the mound to face Isaac Granado, and Bullard’s righthander limited the Coyotes to just three hits, two by JoJo Contreras and one to Michael Say.

In a scoreless contest through three innings, the game was decided in the fourth. Madera had runners on first and second with no outs, but failed to capitalize. In the bottom half of the inning, Bullard got a leadoff triple on a deep fly ball that glanced off the glove of center fielder Joseph Mendrin...
