Coyotes claim their second CMAC crown

Two weeks after earning her 500th career victory, Madera Coyote softball coach Judy Shaubach picked up another win against the Sunnyside-Fresno Wildcats for her second straight County/Metro Athletic Conference championship.

The Coyotes (8-1 CMAC) will face Bullard-Fresno (7-2 CMAC) Friday afternoon at Zimmerman Field to decide whether the Coyotes share the title with the Knights or own it outright.

After a sluggish start Tuesday, the Coyotes received a tongue lashing from Shaubach and quickly turned things around. The Coyotes came off the field after a scoreless third inning, leading 3-0. Shaubach told the girls they weren’t playing up to their level and they need to start playing like champions.

The Coyotes responded, scoring three runs in the fourth and inducing the 10- run mercy rule with 13 runs in the fifth...
