In a non-league game against the Clovis Cougars, the Madera Coyote boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with the fast-paced Cougars in a 64-35 loss.
The Cougars forced nine first quarter turnovers to take a 12-4 lead they would never allow the Coyotes to get closer Monday night. Clovis closed out the game, outscoring Madera 35-14 in the second half.
“We got caught in their tempo. Their pressure made us go a lot faster,” head coach Michael Hawkins said. “We were taking shots quicker than we wanted to. We have to be able to handle pressure and play to our tempo and limit turnovers.”
