Coyotes break streak with win

It has been a streak that grew larger and larger in the heads of the Madera Coyote boys basketball team. Seven games in a row, the Madera South Stallions have beaten the Coyotes.

Behind 16 points from Ethan Richardson and 15 clutch points from Mackey West, the Coyotes stopped the losing streak to finish the first half of the County/Metro Athletic Conference in third place with a 3-2 record.

“It was huge to get the win,” West said, “because it’s a rivalry and we wanted to get off a losing streak so we wanted this bad. Those shots were huge for our team and got us energized. We gave it to Ethan in the post or I would hit a big shot to keep the lead.”

The Coyotes ended up with one of their best shooting nights of the season, shooting 54 percent (21-of-39) from the field and 4-of-9 from 3-point land. They were also able to hit the shots when they really needed it...
