After the Madera baseball team suffered a 2-1 road loss to cross-town rival and County/Metro Athletic Conference opponent Madera South on Tuesday, the Coyotes were looking to get a big win before entering the Div. II section playoffs.

With a change of venues — going from Madera South’s Eddie Chapa Field to Madera’s Mel Parker Field — the Coyotes played like a completely different team Friday in a 6-1 win over the Stallions on Senior Day.

“It’s huge to get win against these guys because they put a lot pressure on us,” Coyote head coach Andy Underwood said. “They came out in the last game and played well enough to beat us.”

While the Stallions (9-18, 4-11 CMAC) shined on their Senior Day on Tuesday, it was a couple of Madera seniors that helped the Coyotes (19-9, 9-6 CMAC) improve to 11-1 at home while snapping their two-game losing skid...
